FeasibilityWe are asked to perform feasibility studies for most of our projects. These include program documents, conceptual design, and cost estimating. When working with highly technical programs in substantial campus buildings, and with major campus infrastructures, the feasibility study requires a straw proposal - a concept that is worked out in detail yet still at a conceptual level - in order to understand the complexity and cost. Unseen conditions warrant a feasibility study because they affect cost and schedule and can include: Site capacity, structure vibration, Renovation, Connection to existing structures, Infrastructure, Program consensus. The process of evaluating and selecting an option is a vital part of the feasibility process. Owners will be weighing hard factors such as cost and schedule against intangibles such as recruiting, retention, campus feel, and community. |
