ISET Complex Breaks Ground
16 June 2004

On Wednesday, June 16th, the University of Hartford community celebrated the groundbreaking of the $32M Integrated Science, Engineering and Technology Complex (ISET) on its West Hartford campus. The complex is comprised of the New ISET Building (37,000 GSF), the renovated Dana Hall (105, 000 GSF), United Technologies Hall, and East Hall. These buildings will house the Engineering and Technology schools, the Integrated Information Technology program, and the Computer Science, Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Health Professions, and Psychology departments.

The New ISET Building extends the architectural language of the campus, while introducing new elements. The design of the elevations take inspiration from imagery and principles found in mathematics and natural sciences, such as the Fibonacci Series, genetic mapping, and integrals, allowing the structural system to recede as an expressive element.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by about 400 people and included remarks by Peter Eio, chairman of the University's Board of Regents; University President Walter Harrison; David Hess, president of Aerospace Power Systems for Hamilton-Sundstrand; and others.
