University of Hartford Opens New ISET Complex
29 August 2005

The University of Hartford celebrated the official opening of their newest science buildings within the $34M Integrated Science, Engineering and Technology Complex (ISET) today. The new 37,000 GSF Biology and Chemistry Building and the renovation to the first half of Dana Hall comprise Phase I of the University's plans to achieve regional prominence and national visibility in science, engineering and technology. Completion of Phase II, the renovation to the second half of Dana Hall, is scheduled for early in 2006. Phases I and II, totaling 142,000 GSF, were designed by Wilson Architects.

The program spaces are organized to make adjacencies optimal for cross pollination among disciplines. Wide corridors and lounges are provided to encourage casual encounters. The renovated Dana Hall becomes a 'dry' classroom and office building, while the wet laboratories of Chemistry and Biology expand and move to the addition, placing the higher technical demands on the new construction. These buildings extend the architectural language of the campus, while introducing new elements.
