Wilson Speaks at SPIE Nanotech Conference
01 August 2005

Bill Wilson, Principal at Wilson Architects, presented "Why does one nano lab cost more than another?" at the "Buildings for Nanoscale Research and Beyond" conference which is part of the SPIE Optics & Photonics 2005 Symposium that was on July 31-August 4 in San Diego, CA. The SPIE Optics & Photonics Conference (www.spie.org) is Co-located with the SPIE Annual Meeting, which draws over 5,000 attendees from over 40 Countries. The talk focused on construction costs of nanotechnology labs and how they reflect the differential between the required performance criteria, and the in situ conditions. Some of the topics that were covered include decisions for siting and utilities, foundation, super structure, high bay, low vibration, clean room, construction delivery, and testing and commissioning.
