The Laboratory for Integrated Science and Engineering (LISE) building is designed to house joint faculty appointments in the department of Physics and the Division of Engineering and Applied Science (DEAS) and to establish a core interdisciplinary suite of tightly controlled environments for high performance laboratories for characterization, material synthesis, and nanoscale device fabrication. This core of instrumentation forms the research heart of Harvard’s Center for Nanoscale Systems (CNS), the primary user group of the below grade portion of the building.
