7 Cambridge Center - The Broad Institute, Cambridge, MA
The Broad Institute (affiliated with MIT and Harvard) will house 185,000 NSF of genomics research utilizing a new approach to scientific engineering. Led by Eric Lander, the Broad Institute uses computers to automate the discovery process. Projects are organized around the interactions of three groups: biologists and chemists, theoreticians, and production engineers who scale-up activities using a new generation of automated equipment. The Broad is organized into four disciplines, each supported by a group. Flexible labs use overhead fed services to island and wall benches, and moveable casework to allow reconfiguration. WA provided programming services for this project.
