Clean, Quiet & Consistent: design approaches for contemporary physics labs
The July/August edition of Laboratory Design Newsletter includes the editorial “Clean, Quiet & Consistent: design approaches for contemporary physics labs”. The article is published as a follow-up to a presentation given with Professor Patrick Irvin of the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute at this year’s Lab Design Conference. While presenting the environmental parameters of contemporary research facilities, questions arose from a crowd mostly consisting of lab designers. The editorial provides answers to questions commonly asked, attempts to clarify environmental parameters and offers current design trends.
Highlights include:
- Cleanliness and the importance of an unpolluted environment
- Sound mitigation and the importance of a quiet environment
- Consistency and the importance of a stable environment
